Jaden, account director, CTV sellers, EMEA, takes us through a typical day in her life.
Magnite’s Day in the Life series dives into the various people and teams that make up the world’s largest independent sell-side ad platform.
How would you explain what you to do to someone outside the industry?
I work with a tech platform that enables media owners to effectively monetise their content. For example, when you’re watching your favourite TV show, and the ad comes on — that ad is likely being delivered to you using Magnite technology.
How did you first break into ad tech?
It was a bit of an accident, actually. I had been working as an events manager at a Member’s Club and had run a few events for The Drum whilst there. Listening to the presentations, I found the topic of data and programmatic technology really interesting. It sparked my curious mind and I knew someone who, at the time, was working at BrightRoll (since acquired by Yahoo).
I approached the contact on the off-chance I’d be able to dip my toe in and get some experience. The luck of the Irish was clearly with me, and I was able to come and spend a couple of weeks working there. It turned out to be a very exciting two weeks, as they announced they were acquired the day after. This was the first of two experiences being at a company that got acquired; a thrilling time! Then, I used all the knowledge I sponged up to get myself an interview at another programmatic advertising company, and soon after started there as an account executive. Just goes to show what can happen if you put yourself out there.
How does your department/team help support Magnite/Magnite’s clients as a whole? What other departments do you facilitate with the most?
We work holistically across all departments, with the largest interactions between Demand and Tech Ops.
We are the conduit between Magnite and our clients. We know their business as well as they do and act as the voice for that client internally and vice-versa. We continually ensure they are set up for success and understand how our platform helps them deliver their business goals.
Talk about a recent project that you’re proud of yourself/your team for accomplishing.
The Magnite Streaming migration. A hugely strategic project for the company as a whole and no small task as a team!
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Knowing that I’m working for a company that is top of its game. Also getting to work with some of the smartest and most fun people in the industry. Culture is of huge importance to me; something Magnite definitely does very well.
Do you have any advice for people looking to learn more about ad tech/your particular department?
GO GET IT. Be curious.
